The USDA continues the annual rabies vaccine drop. You will see fixed wing aircraft and helicopters dripping these rabies prevention packets. They are safe if a pet get them; please do not disturb the packets as this is an effective program, especially as deforestation leads more wild animals into residential areas.
Tariffs, according to economists with Moodys Analytics and Goldman Sachs, do not favor the flooring industry. As retaliatory Tariffs, supply line disruptions, and inflated interest rates cool remodels and new construction, some manufacturers are looking for expense cuts. Northwest Georgia has higher unemployment than other parts of the state; some experts expect a temporary rise in the numbers in manufacturing companies.
Sunday is the next scheduled meeting for The Georgia High School Association Region Reclassification Committee. This series of meetings is informational and will precede the vote on considering athletic outcomes as a major factor in classifying region assignments for high schools.
On Sunday (April 6) evening, the Gordon County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to a private residence in Millstone Subdivision where a woman had walked from Boone Ford Road. The woman had been stabbed and cut a number of times. Deputies responded along with EMS personnel and the woman was removed by ambulance. She told investigating officers she’d been stabbed while riding in a car on Boone Ford Road a short time before. She described her assailant who was located by deputies walking on Boone Ford Road within minutes. He was arrested without incident. Witnesses were questioned and physical evidence was gathered, including the knife believed to have been used in the crime. Detectives have charged Daniel Edward Woody, age 38, of 173 Kinman Road, Calhoun, with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Knife in the Commission of a Crime. The victim is expected to recover.
