Skimmers, the devices that steal credit and debit card information, were found installed in the Calhoun area. Sheriff Mitch Ralston encouraged residents to check their February financial statements for any fraudulent or suspicious charges. Now, if you see something odd, first call your financial institution. However, the good news from Sheriff Ralston: The skimmers are gone, leads that the sheriff’s detectives developed in cooperation with federal officials point to the thieves being gone from our area, and arrests are expected.
Hihgway 53 West, at the intersection of Plainville Road and Brownlee Mountain Road will soon see a raised median to better protect motorists from accidents (More tha 70 since 2013), and help traffic move more efficiently. The nearly four million dollar contract has been awarded; construction plans call for a U-turn at this intersection.
Peach Pass Scams are hitting many area residents. If you receive a text or call saying you owe for your Peach Pass, don’t respond. It is a scam designed to steal your money. If a text comes, do not reply – report the number as spam. If you receive a call, do not talk. Just hang up.
