A one hundred acre wildfire in the Armuchee area yesterday led to the evacuation of several homeowners. The Rome Floyd County Fire Department extinguished the blaze and the homeowners were allowed back in. No serious injuries or catastrophic losses were reported. Gordon County Fire and Rescue sent personnel and equipment to help fight the fast-moving fire.
Tonight, 7 pm, is the regular meeting of The Calhoun City Council. Recognizing E-911 operators, annexations, and new cemtery fees are on the agenda. Updates from City Administrator Paul Worley and City Attorney George Govignon will also be on the agenda.
