Today and tomorrow are the last days for early voting in the special election in Fairmount’s Special Election. You can vote today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday, March 8, 2024) at The Gordon County Courthouse. For those who wish to vote on election day, that’s Tuesday, March 18, 2024. This is an election for Mayor of Fairmount and for City Council Post One.
Keep Calhoun and Gordon County Beautiful is actively encouraging recycling. This waste mitigation program, open to all residents, places roll-off sites in six locations around the county. The group, long active in beautification programs in our county, is funded by a state grant. They are supported in the efforts by several area businesses. Soon, we hope to have director Judy Peterson on the air.
Training for multiple public safety agencies concludes today at Sonoraville Baptist Church. According to local EMA Director Courtney Taylor, the scenario indoor/outdoor training has been highly effective in the coordination of emergency responses. Taylor extends the thanks of all the involved departments to Sonoraville Baptist Church for hoisting this event.
