In the news, last night the regular meeting of the Gordon County Board of Commissioners went underway with the work session starting at 5 pm and the regular meeting at 6:00 p.m. On the agenda – the public hearing for the rezoning of two lots on Resaca on Highway 41 near I-75 will resume. The developers plan a 322,000 square foot logistics center with a potential for 175 jobs. Professional planning staff who work for the county and The Gordon County Historic Preservation Committee recommended that the board deny the application; the Gordon County Planning Commission – with a member absent at the meeting where the request was considered – sent the the Board of Commissioners a 2-2 tie on approval or denial. Chomps meat sticks, sold locally at several retailers – have been recalled. The meat may have metal in it. You can take the sticks back; throw them away if you don’t plan to return. Also, check your Tostitos Cantina Yellow Corn Traditional Tortilla Chips; these have some unlisted ingredients (Dairy products) that could cause an allergic reaction.
The ongoing issues with the remodeling/rebuild of Ranger’s Community Center will be addressed in a public meeting – Thursday April 3, at 6 p.m. at Ranger Baptist Church.
In arrests announced by Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston:
• City of Calhoun Police Department arrested Minnesota residents Cherity Lynn Starkey – charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and bringing stolen goods into the state. Arrested in the same incident – by City of Calhoun Police Officers, Anthony Frank Starkey, 23, Alexis Ann Pustovar, 19, and Jaspn Michael Anderson, 49, all of Minnesota; all are charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Bringing Stolen Property into the State of Georgia.
