Monday is the executive committee meeting of The Georgia High School Association. Rule changes for swimming, cheerleaders and safety updates are on the agenda. So is a discussion of the reclassification of existing regions based on athletic outcomes and other factors. The agenda is here and the minutes will be posted after the meeting.

USDA helicopters and fixed wing aircraft are still in the area for wildlife vaccine pack drops. These packets, harmless to pets, target rabies in wild animals – especially raccoons. USDA agents say if you see the packs, leave them alone.

Highland Rivers has announced a six million dollar capital-raising campaign to fund a new in-house treatment facility for pregnant women and new moms struggling with addiction. The current program, with 3,000 drug free babies born, operated as part of an apartment complex in Cobb County. Highland Rivers has the opportunity – with the funding to expand the twenty-five unit facility under one roof in Austell. Cherokee Judicial Circuit Drug Courts will be able to direct mom’s struggling into this program.
