The regular meeting of The Gordon County Board of Commissioners regular meeting starts tonight in the Judicial Center Assembly Room at 5 p.m. A link to the agenda is here. A public hearing on three rezoning requests will be part of the meeting.

Yesterday, the City of Calhoun approved rezoning necessary to build a new gas, convenience and (Possibly) liquor store at the intersection of Peters Street and Curtis Parkway. The project was opposed by many of the most affected neighbors. The concerns include increased traffic in an area already congested, noise on the periphery of a residential neighborhood, and increased safety concerns about the ability of current public traffic infrastructure to handle increased growth without government investment.

Today – and all week – we celebrate our E-911 dispatchers. Even if you miss the open house, today from 9 until 11 am at the 911 Center, you can keep up with celebration of our Emergency Tele-communicators all week on Georgia 1017 and WJTH.
